I’m not sure about you, but I spent the week drooling while checking Brites’ profile on Instagram. Those croissants with chocolate and hazelnuts are decadent. I have to control myself!! But it’s hard...
But let’s focus! No more Brites for me! Today!!
For this week's newsletter, I decided to ask some friends from Coimbra for their best suggestions. Coimbra is such a great city. I love visiting Coimbra and I have the best memories from my visits while studying at the University of Porto. Not what you’re thinking!
So my friends, Cláudia Acabado and Sérgio Santos sent me their suggestions and I decided to select 5. Some of them I personally have been to, others just joined my list of places to go to.
So for the weekend of May 7th, here are my suggestions.
[Community] RÁDIO BAIXA
This is my personal peek. Rádio Baixa is a Community radio in downtown Coimbra. I’ve known about this project from the very beginning since I know some of the founders. I love community-oriented projects. These are the projects that provide a feeling of belonging to anyone in a city.
[Garden] COLD GREENHOUSE OF THE BOTANICAL GARDEN
Like lots of people, with the pandemic, I became more interested in spending time in nature. Even though I’ve never been to the Botanical Garden in Coimbra, I’ve seen pictures and it’s a mandatory visit.
[Restaurant] BIXOS
Bixos is part of an unconventional hotel chain called Zero. They refurbish old buildings with the help of a modular system to create distinctive interiors. I’ve been to their place in Porto and had a really nice dinner at Carniceiro. But Bixos in Coimbra also looks great. Perfect for people that like to break from the boring.
[Restaurant] PASSAPORT
Passport is another unique place. It looks fancy and is the perfect balance between the new and the old. Definitely on my list for the next time I am in town.
[Ice cream] GELATARIA COSÌ
And last, but not least Gelataria Così. With the days getting warmer, I was told this is an awesome place to have ice cream. Added to my list.

That’s it for now! Enjoy the weekend! Get out of the house! Even though, I have to tell you that one of my favorite Netflix TV Series is back and I’m planning to watch it this weekend. Go check “Grace & Frankie”.
P.S. Following last week’s challenge, I received lots of suggestions for the best francesinha. I’m still taking suggestions, so please feel free to send them my way!
